BSL EXODUS 18 NUMBERS 11 MINISTRY

Change does not come easily. Accepting change, even biblical change, is extremely challenging. Exodus Numbers ministry brings real help for the local church dedicated to biblical change.

Our mission is to provide outstanding mentoring and support to existing churches working through the challenges of implementing biblical plurality in leadership.

Churches and leaders exist today who have never witnessed healthy leadership in this biblical form. Some believe they have plurality in leadership but in reality only one leader makes decisions, the other leaders are observers.

WE ARE NOT

The Exodus Numbers ministry is not a new movement. We are not an effort to create or plant new churches. Our name is a reminder to the local church of God's unchanging desire for His people to be led through a plurality of qualified men.

GOD SPEAKING

God’s Word is not silent on leading His people. In Holy Scripture, beginning in Exodus 3:16, 18:13-19 & Numbers 11:16-17 God requires plurality in leadership.

Elders are the leaders of the church in the Bible also called pastors, bishops, and overseers (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Peter 5:2). The elders are men chosen for their ministry according to clear biblical requirements (1 Timothy 2:11-3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). The elders are always spoken of in plurality because God intends for more than one man to lead and rule over the church as a safeguard for both the church and the man. The elders’ duties include ruling (1 Timothy 5:17), (1 Timothy 3:4-5), (1 Peter 5:2-5), (Hebrews 13:17), (Hebrews 13:7), (Acts 20:28), (Ephesians 4:11, 1Timothy 3:2), (1 Timothy 5:17), (Titus 1:9), (Matthew 18:15-17).

ABOUT THE MINISTRY

Exodus Numbers Ministry exists to train pastors and churches who desire to be led biblically—by a plurality of elders. Pastors and leaders may discover they are leading a flock outside God’s will for His church—alone! The question then becomes what next? How do you assemble a biblical elder board? How do meetings work? What does life look like day-to-day, week-to-week in the life of an elder? If elders are the highest position in the church, whom do they answer to? I realize my church must have elders but it will take time—what do we do until then?

BSL realizes you have questions and you need help putting God’s commands for leading His people in place. We have a staff of biblically qualified Brazilian elders. These men are BSL graduates who have spent 2 years training in Brazil and the United States to provide biblical training and immediate leadership assistance to your church.

HOW WE PARTNER WITH CHURCHES

Everything begins with a request to our ministry for assistance.  A typical process to identify, train, and elect elders from your church takes between 6 to 12 months. No two churches are identical so the exact length of time to install elders will be different for each one. During this identifying/training time, our staff will serve along side you as temporary elders. The goal is to replace our temporary elders as quickly as possible with your permanent elders.

We will work with you to help you lead effective monthly elder meetings. In addition to monthly meetings our team will work with you during the month by phone and in person. Our goal is to build strong mentoring and discipling relationships described in God’s Word between pastors who lead in plurality. Our team can assist you in other ways such as building curriculum for your Sunday schools and creating or reviewing church government documents to ensure lasting change.
